May 2020 Boxycharm Base Box Unboxing and Review
Hi Prepsters
Boxycharm is a monthly subscription box that sends out five full-size items that include makeup, skincare, beauty tools and colour cosmetics, each box has an average value over $120. I joined Boxycharm after seeing last months takeover box that they did in collaboration with Fenty beauty, which is of course the makeup line founded by Rihanna. Boxycharm has three different types of boxes, and I’ver listed the different types of memberships down below.
The monthly subscription price for the Base Box which contains is $25 USD ($35 CAD)+ $5 USD shipping ($7 CAD) = $30 USD ($42 CAD).
The Premium Box is an additional $35 USD ($48.88 CAD) + $5 USD shipping ($7 CAD) per month. It contains 5-7 full sized products that have an average value of $175 USD ($244 CAD) unless there is a brand takeover. You also get the chance to select one item, but in my experience, it doesn’t guarantee you will receive that item.
The last box they offer is called Boxyluxe, and is an additional $25 USD ($35 CAD) every 3 months. It combines your base box, and adds an additional 3 to 4 full sized products tbringing your toptal to between 8 or 9 products. You also get the option to select two of the products being offered. The average value is $250 USD ($349 CAD).
The May Box
Total Value $143 USD ($199 CAD)
Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads $59 USD ($82.37 CAD)
The Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads were a product I was excited to receive. The package contains 60 pads, and it is recommended you use it twice a day, therefore, there is one months supply. I personally haven’t tried these yet, but am excited to do so since they are highly rated on Sephora, Nordstrom, and other websites. There is, however, a very strong scent that reminds me of the fruit, floral perfume I wore by Britney Spears in highschool.
Violet Voss Essentials Pro Palette $29 USD ($40 CAD)
The Violet Voss Palette is one of those palettes that I would expect to see in a TJ Max or Winners. The cardboard packaging is cheap, and flimsy,. The colours swatched okay, and the formulation of the shimmer shades were much better and creamier than the matte ones. The matte shades were a little bit chaulky and patchy.
Pretty Vulgar Uncaged Eyeshadow Primer $22 USD ($31 CAD)
The Pretty Vulgar packaging is beautiful but very small. I had not the highest of expectations from this product, especially after I placed it on the back of my hands because of how tacky it was. I was, however, very impressed with the longevity of my eyeshadow placed on top. As someone with greasy eyelids, I am excited to use this product.
Ayam Beautycare Dead Sea Minerals + Vitamin C Serum Makeup Remover Wipes $17USD($24 CAD)
It had to happen. My first damaged product arrived. The Ayam makeup remover wipes came in a ripped package, and because of that, they were dry. I did email Boxycharm and will update their response on this post. The wipes have a fruity smell, and claim to remove waterproof mascara while brightening, and moisturizing your skin. For 25 makeup wipes, $25 CAD seems pretty high. I expect these wipes to not only remove all my makeup, but wipe away all my sins too for that price.
Gerard Cosmetics Lip Liner : Colour Ecstasy $16 USD ($22 CAD)
I love a good mauve lip, so I was beyond happy to receive this lip liner by Gerard Cosmetics in the colour “Ecstasy”. The liner comes in a classic pencil format that requires sharpening. I loved the formula as it was very creamy, but it did swatch slightly lighter than I expected compared to the colour on the bottom of the pencil. Overall, I am really liking this product.
