My Experience With Lip Fillers at Cloud Care Cosmetics

Hi Prepsters

Lip Fillers Sara Sohail

If you’re following me on Instagram, you probably saw my stories about getting lip fillers. I wanted to share the experience I had at Cloud Care. The procedure was gifted by the clinic but this is still an honest review. ( I always want to maintain that level of transparency with you, my readers)

Cloud Care Cosmetics is located in the heart of Downtown Toronto by Dundas Square. (55 Dundas St E Floor 2) The clinic is very accessible for both commuting via the TTC, and for drivers; a large public parking garage is located at Ryerson University, which is steps away from the clinic.

Why I did it

Old Lips

The reason I wanted to get my lips filled was that I was unhappy with both my lip size and the lack of symmetry. I found myself overdrawing my lips whenever I did my makeup. I do preach body positivity, and accept my body and face for what it is, but I knew getting fillers would make me more confident. I always believe you should do anything that brings you to a place of acceptance with yourself, whether it is through clothing, makeup, or body augmentation.

Last week before my consultation I was nervous.I’m not a big fan of needles, and I get anxious very easily. Walking into Cloud Care Cosmetics clinic, the staff was extremely helpful and explained not only the benefits of getting fillers but also some things that could go wrong. They also told me that if at any point I decided to not have the procedure done, I was welcome to walk away. I loved how knowledgeable they were, and how thoroughly the procedure was explained to me. I also like how there was no pressure to go aheead with this procedure, and it was truly at my own will.

The Type of Filler

The fillers that they used in my lips is called Revanesse. Many clinics use Juvederm, but Revanesse is more easily moulded and more natural feeling than other cosmetic fillers. It also contains an anesthetic in its formula, which is more effective in managing the pain of getting fillers compared to anesthetic creams that are applied topically. The fillers contain Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which is naturally produced by the human body and present within the skin. HA dermal fillers are used to treat the signs of ageing and to augment/shape/contour the facial features. They break down naturally within 6-8 months based on your metabolism.

The Procedure

After my consultation, I was taken into the procedural room. My brother, was allowed to be in the room with me which was comforting. Prabha, explained where the injections were going. The first needle hurt (like a 6/10), but soon after I felt the anesthetic kick-in, and the pain, which initially felt like a sting, dulled down.

Recovery

The recovery wasn’t bad. Right after the fillers were injected, the swelling began. I was told to ice my lips to help reduce swelling and bruising, which I only half-heartedly did. It was also recommended that I slept with my head elevated facing upwards, but I’m a tummy sleeper, so I eventually did flip over in the middle of the night, which I think added to my bruising and swelling. There was no pain after the procedure, but it did feel like I had little balloons in my lips. I took pictures every morning to show the swelling and healing time.

Final Thoughts

Overall I’m glad I got fillers. I highly recommend doing some research, and ONLY going to legitimate, licensed places. All the botched jobs I have heard of, or seen (specifically in the fashion industry) have been by back-alley injectors. My experience at Cloud Care Cosmetics was phenomenal, and I highly recommend going there (plus they have free consultations).
