Review: Stila Makeup
Hi Prepsters,
I recently have gotten my hands on a few Stila products, and decided it was time for a review.
Stila is known for having amazing glitter shadows, and almost everyone that has recommended the brand to me, has done it based off those products. Stila is a mid luxury brand, and available at most Shopper Drugmarts, and Sephora stores; the price point ranges between $20-$65.
The four products I'm reviewing are the highly raved about Glitter and Glow Liquid Eye Shadow ($31 CAD), the extremely popular Heaven's Hue Highlighter ($42 CAD), the Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner ($29 CAD), and the Shoppers Drug Mark exclusive product Correct and Perfect Palette ($59 CAD).
The Glow Liquid Eye Shadow which I tried was in the colour Kitten Karma, and is champagne coloured base, with pink and rose gold coloured glitter. The product claims to be long wearing, lightweight, and a special formulation that reduces the fallout to a bare minimum. It comes in eight other colours. Kitten Karma was extremely vibrant, and I loved how quickly the product dried on my eyelids. I almost think this would be a perfect glitter eyeliner in terms of formulation. I loved almost everything about this product, minus the clunky brush that it came with which made it difficult to use the shadow precisely. Overall this is a fabulous product, and definitely worth a try. I give it a 4.5 out of 5
The next product with some glowing (pardon the pun) reviews online is the Heaven's Huge Highlighter, and is available in three shades; I'm reviewing the post popular colour available which is called Kitten. The colour is a rose gold shade, and doesn't have actual glitter in it, which gives it a beautiful and iridescent finish on the skin. The putty like texture is fun, and gives me 90's nostalgia. The only downside for this highlighter is that you can NOT apply it with your fingers, otherwise you may leave fingerprints all over your face (even though the putty texture makes it tempting to do). Overall I really liked this product, I would give it a 4.6 out of 5.
The Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner has actually become my go to product now. It lasts all day, and the felt tip is thin enough to give you a very precise line. The pencil like container makes it easy to hold, and therefore makes the application process much easier. A really great product, and almost perfect formulation, I give it a 5 out of 5.
So the Correct and Perfect Palette is on the pricier side at $59 CAD. It was the last product I tried, and I thought it was just okay. The corrector creams are very pigmented and creamy, making them easy to blend. They sit well with foundation and concealer on top, and blend out beautifully. I also think the choice for the tones of the correctors is good enough to be used on most skin tones. The yellow and purple corrector powder, on the other hand, is chalky and accentuates pores. I also wish there was more product in the pans, especially when I only use the concealer creams. Overall a 2.5 out of 5.
